CFO

David Kramer

Dave is a seasoned Chief Financial Officer of over 25 years’ experience, at every dollar level from start-up to over $100 million in sales. He’s been a full time CFO in high tech, biopharma, and medical devices, all in growth modes.

Much of Dave’s recent work has been with small companies reaching for scale. His goal is to help entrepreneurs understand how their financials can be improved and how to plan for growth, leading to what he calls “fiscal fitness.” His success has come through a breadth of thinking that includes a company’s entire enterprise processes, from R&D through manufacturing, to marketing and sales. He is the founder and principal of Outsource CFO Services, where he currently provides financial advisory services to a range of companies, both investor-funded and owner-operated. His engagements have included part time and full time CFO positions in informatics software, professional services, consumer product accessories, health care IT, electronics manufacturing, alternative energy, and biotech specialty chemicals.

Dave’s corporate CFO positions have included Gen-Probe, Inc., a developer, manufacturer and international marketer of diagnostics products, which he helped grow from $5 million to $120 million in sales. While there, he also served as CFO for an affiliated start-up biopharma, Chugai Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. In other CFO positions, he helped raise $38 million in venture capital for Anadys Pharmaceuticals and helped complete a reverse merger onto the NASDAQ for Somanta Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, Dave held financial executive positions at an electronics start-up and a mid-sized Fujitsu software subsidiary. He is active in several volunteer organizations, including CONNECT Springboard, as a financial domain expert for nine years, Chairmen’s Roundtable, as a Board member, and the local Harvard Business School Alumni Club, as a lecturer in finance for management development courses. Dave holds a BA, cum laude, from Yale, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
